The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) regrets the recent diplomatic crisis between Turkey and the United States. The crisis resulted in the suspension of visa services from U.S. missions in Turkey and Turkey’s suspension of visas for U.S. travelers.
We urge both sides to work toward a quick solution of this crisis through high level dialogue and urge all non-governmental stakeholders, as well as the media in both countries, to play a constructive role in strengthening the U.S.-Turkey relationship.
The U.S.-Turkey alliance has served bilateral, regional, and global peace for decades.
This relationship has been further strengthened in recent years through growing commercial, educational, and cultural relations, as well as tourism. In contrast to past decades, today, hundreds of thousands of citizens of both countries interact with each other, fostering a better understanding between the U.S. and Turkey. Contacts between different levels of Turkish and American society through these private ties also have an ameliorating effect on the relationship.
As an organization which has invested in advancing dialogue and people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Turkey for over a decade, we urge the two governments to enhance their dialogue and recommit to their partnership and alliance.
