The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Burak Guvensoylar. Burak was an outgoing and engaged member of the Turkish American community who will be dearly missed.
After completing his studies at the University of Georgia, he took part in TCA’s Summer Internship Program in 2011, where he worked with former member of Congress and Turkey Caucus Co-Chair Ed Whitfield (R-KY/1st). He later went on to work in Government Relations with the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) before returning to Capitol Hill to work as a Judiciary Legislative Advisor for Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA/4th) and as a staffer on the House Judiciary Committee.
Burak played a key role in encouraging members of Congress to join the Congressional Turkey Caucus. He was also a frequent speaker at TCA’s internship events and annual Youth Congresses, where he inspired young Turkish Americans to become more active in politics and engaged in their communities.
TCA’s deepest sympathies go out to Burak’s family and friends during this difficult time.
