The United States Congress adopted the first positive resolution on Turkey in years on Thursday.
The Natural Resources Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a draft law permitting Turkish companies to hold trade with American Indians without a need for approval by the federal government.
Speaking to the AA, Congressman Don Young said that he had not seen any other country than Turkey that wished to provide assistance to American Indians.
Tom Cole, the author of the resolution on American Indians and a member of the Turkish Friendship Group in the U.S. Congress, said that the American Indians were highly excited about the possibility of Turkish companies making investments in regions where American Indians lived.
The President of the Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) Lincoln McCurdy said that the adoption of the draft law on Turkish companies and American Indians was a "historic step".
While the draft law has not been approved yet, it has raised attention to the economic circumstances that the American Indians live in, McCurdy said.
