January 22, 2009/ Washington, DC - The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) congratulates President Barack Obama on assuming office.
President Obama’s inauguration was greeted with great hope and promise in Turkey and around the world. His resolve to opening a new chapter in America’s international relations, his dedication to the rule of law, his commitment to re-engaging America’s friends and extending a hand to its foes, as well as his call for a new era of personal responsibility and sacrifice have reverberated around the world.
TCA shares the President’s belief that contemporary threats to peace and freedom require “even greater cooperation and understanding among nations” and we pledge our support to strengthening such cooperation and understanding between the United States and Turkey .
As Turkish Americans, we are proud of the long-standing record of friendship that exists between Turkey and the United States . While this relationship occasionally faced trying times, it has, without a doubt, grown and matured into a partnership which has served the interests of both nations well. In addressing the crucial international challenges ahead, the world will benefit from a strong US-Turkey alliance which rests on a strong foundation of shared democratic values, as well as the pursuit of peace, stability, security and prosperity at home and abroad. We look forward to helping President Obama to further enhance US-Turkey relations for the benefit of both countries and the world.
