According to Halim Fidai, Governor of the Afghan province of Wardak, Turkey has completed aid development projects worth $37 million since 2006 in the province. Turkey heads the Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Wardak province.
Speaking to reporters at Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport, Mr. Fidai said that Turkish projects have been extremely successful in Wardak. Roughly 200 Turkish projects in the fields of education, health and infrastructure have been completed in the province since 2006, Fidai said.
What lies at the foundation of Turkey's successful model is Turkey's closeness to the cultural values of the Afghan people and Turkey's harmonization with the Afghan national development strategy, Fidai said. Turkish projects in Afghanistan receive great support from the Afghan people, adding that he expected to receive more projects and resources from Turkey.
Turkish troops serving in Afghanistan are welcomed and are not regarded as a hostile force throughout the country, Fidai said, adding that Turkey's assistance is crucial for Afghanistan’s redevelopment.
