TCA continued its partnership with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) by supporting the CHCI’s 34th Annual Leadership Conference and sponsoring the Reyes of Comedy After Party held at the historic Warner Theater. The annual comedic event featured performances by Paul Rodriguez, Shayla Rivera and Mike Robles, as well as Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, including Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) and Congressman Jose Serrano (D-NY).
Against the backdrop of Washington, DC’s stately skyline, the roof-top event welcomed many notable members of Washington’s Hispanic American community, including Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Congressman Joe Baca (D-CA) and Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL).
For three consecutive years TCA has worked closely with CHCI, whose programs help serve more than 1,500 young Latinos annually, to increase the number of Hispanic American recipients of TCA’s scholarship program. Since 2008, TCA’s robust scholarship programs for minority students have helped over a hundred Hispanic American, African American, and Native American students to study abroad in Turkey. Since the inception of TCA’s Study Abroad in Turkey Scholarship program, scholarship grants amounting to 67,500 USD have been distributed to 55 Hispanic American students who chose Turkey as their study abroad destination.
