TCA President Meets with Members of Congress

In September, TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy met with several members of Congress to convey the importance of engaging with the Turkish American community and encouraging Turkish Americans to be more involved in the political arena.

Between September 28-29, McCurdy met with Congresswoman Annie Kuster (D-NH/2nd) at an event in Whitfield, New Hampshire. Congressman Richard Neal (D-MA/1st), who is the Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, also attended the event.

On September 27, McCurdy attended a breakfast event with Congressman Jim Panetta (D-CA/20th) in Washington, D.C. Also on September 27, he met with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC/5th) for a lunch event in DC.

On September 25, McCurdy attended a breakfast event with Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA/8th) in Washington, D.C.

On September 4, McCurdy, TCA Directors Nilsu Goren and Louette Ragusa attended a reception with Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH/10th) in Washington, D.C.
TCA Director Attends Turkey Investment Conference

On September 26, TCA Director Nilsu Goren attended the 9th Turkey Investment Conference, organized by DEIK/Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAIK) in New York City. The conference was attended by President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish Minister of Trade H.E. Ruhsar Pekcan and the Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance H.E. Berat Albayrak.

TCA Turkish American Youth Leadership Congress

Applications for the Fifth Annual Turkish American Turkish American Youth Leadership Congress closed in September 2018. The Youth Congress will take place October 25-28, 2018 in Washington, D.C., and will provide up to 25 young Turkish Americans the opportunity to experience Washington, D.C. and connect with their peers and heritage while learning about civic engagement, political activism, leadership, and the U.S.-Turkey relationship.

Young Cultural Ambassadors Meet with Congresswoman Foxx

On September 12, TCA Director Nilsu Goren accompanied the American Turkish Association of Washington, DC’s (ATA-DC) Young Cultural Ambassadors to a meeting with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC/5th), who is the Chairwoman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee. 

TCA Director Meets with Members of Congress

On September 7, TCA Director Nilsu Goren attended a breakfast event organized by the Government Relations Association (GRA) with Congressman Pete Aguilar (D-CA/31st).

On September 13, Goren attended a reception with Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX/32nd), who is a Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on the U.S.-Turkey Relations and Turkish Americans. The reception was attended by Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA/1st), House of Representatives Majority Whip.

On September 26, Goren attended a GRA lunch with Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL/3rd).

Throughout the month, Goren also attended several National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) events on Capitol Hill.

TCA President Attends ATA-DC Dinner

On September 8th, TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy attended the American Turkish Association of Washington, DC’s Festival Garden Party in support of the 16th Annual Turkish Festival, which took place on September 30, 2018 in Washington, D.C. TCA was a sponsor of the festival.
