Turkish Americans Support Macedonia's NATO Membership

On April 25, TCA, the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA) and the Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA), sent a letter to President Obama urging the U.S. administration to support Macedonia's NATO membership at the upcoming Chicago Summit this month. TCA Sponsors 32nd Annual Turkish American National Convention

TCA sponsored the 32nd Annual Turkish-American National Convention held on April 12-14 in Washington, DC organized by the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), the Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA) and the Turkish American Community Center (TACC). The convention featured numerous speakers who discussed Turkish American issues and related public advocacy efforts of the community. The detailed program of the convention can be viewed here.

TCA Preparing for 14th Congressional Trip

TCA is organizing its 14th Congressional delegation to Turkey on May 18-27. The delegation will consist of senior congressional staff members and is scheduled to meet with high-level government officials, as well as representatives of Turkey's business community and civil society.

TCA attends joint US Chamber of Commerce and Turkish Industry and Business Association Seminar in Istanbul

On April 12, TCA Turkey Representative Basak Kizildemir attended a conference jointly organized by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) and the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) held in Istanbul. The conference dealt with the current state US-Turkish economic relations and ways to expand such ties. In the aftermath of a debate session on Turkey as an investment hub to third markets, Mrs. Kizildemir provided information on HR 2362 and investment opportunities for Turkish companies in Indian country.

Turkish Studies Project Conference on World War I to be held in Sarajevo

The Turkish Studies Project at the University of Utah and the University of Sarajevo will hold a conference between May 16-20 in Sarajevo examining the causes and the socio-political impact of World War I on post-Ottoman territories. This conference is the third in a series initiated by the Turkish Studies Project, which is underwritten by a multi-year TCA grant.

TCA President to Speak at World Political Forum-2012

TCA President Lincoln McCurdy will speak at the Istanbul World Political Forum-2012 on May 17-18 where leaders of the politics, business and civil society will come together to discuss pressing global challenges. For more information on this event click here.

TCA Awards Study Tour Grant to Alfred University

TCA awarded a Study Tour Grant to Alfred University to support students traveling to Turkey with the program entitled "Istanbul 2012: Crossroads of Civilization." The program starts with a semester-length class at Alfred and will conclude with a 4-week summer term at Isik University in Istanbul. The trip is scheduled for July 2-27, 2012. Alfred University is the fourth educational institution in 2012 to receive the TCA Study Tour Grant, joining George Washington University, Community College of Philadelphia and Syracuse University. 

TCA Hosts Members of Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS)

TCA hosted 6 Native American students of the Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS) program, along with American University Adjunct Professor Dr. Stephen Davis, on April 18 for a briefing on TCA and study abroad opportunities in Turkey. WINS students of sovereign American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian nations who have come to Washington, DC to build leadership skills got to learn about TCA's Native American outreach and TCA scholarships available to Native American students who choose Turkey as their study abroad destination.
